Minion hat..

I made this Hat for Matt to be a minion from the movie "despicable me" for those of you who have not yet seen this movie i posted a picture of what a minion is...

now ts just the yellow shirt and a pair of coveralls and bingo a halloween costume!

I separated the main hat from the decorations in case someone wants to make a plain hat for themselves this is a very easy hat pattern that i worked up myself for another hat that i made for Matthew. totally customizable for adults or older children.

MAIN HAT

1. (YELLOW) Chain 4 join w/ slip stitch
2. Chain 2, 2 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch
3. Chain 2, 2 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch
4. Chain 2, 1 half double crochet in 4 stitches, 2 (increase) in 5th ; repeat to end of row, join w/ slip stitch
5. Chain 2, 1 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch
6. Chain 2, 1 half double crochet in 4 stitches, 2 (increase) in 5th ; repeat to end of row, join w/ slip

Continue this pattern until you get hat to the proper size at widest part of head…

START TO DECREASE

1. Chain 2, 1 half double crochet in 4 stitches, decrease the 5th and 6th to one stitch; repeat to end of row, join w/ slip stitch
2. Continue this pattern until you get the size hat you need. The finial row you may need to adjust how many decreases you do to get the correct snug fit you desire. Finish off with a pull thorough knot.

Minion Goggle

1. (BROWN) Chain 4 join w/ slip stitch
2. Chain 2, 2 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch tie off
3. (WHITE) join on Chain 2, 2 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch tie off
4. (BLACK) join on Chain 1, 2 half double crochet in each stitch, join w/ slip stitch attach to main hat with slip stitch
5. Chain 10 slip stitch onto hat being certain to stay on same row continue to Chain 10 slip stitch onto hat until you come back to goggle. Leave enough tail to stitch around goggle.
6. Stuff goggle with fiber fill, use tail to stitch around goggle be careful not to rotate goggle. Tie off.

Matt's New Hat

Over on my day to day blog I have a post about the new jacket Matt just got. After some thought and talking to a crafty cousin of mine, I decided to crochet him a hat to go with his new coat. Our fall wind here is always a cause for my family to get ear infections so even when its a "warm" day, a light hat that will cover your ears is most needed.

The more I thought about the hat the more I thought of how to do it, and how I wanted it to look when I was done. I am pleased to say that I only ripped it out once for design flaws. I wish I had written down the pattern!

new idea!

My niece has been knitting animal toys. I love them i think they are SOO cute, But I cannot knit. yes i have tried. BUT today I found a pattern for something so fun I cannot wait to give it a try!

Best thing ever? they are crochet!

Pink & Purple Baby yarn

I used up the last of my pink Baby yarn with this one. Consequently I had to do the ruffle twice. Normally I do a shell that is 4 double crochets or sometiems five. Lately I have been doing 4 half double crochets, and that is what i had done around this one. I got to the last 4 inches of this blanket and ran out of pink yarn. So I pulled it all out and started over on row 2. 3 half double crochets with a chain in between make a teeny tiny shell but so pretty ! and no more left over baby yarn!

Brown Stripy

This is the second half of the striped fleece I bought. Notice how when I used the blue year it looked like a blue blanket and now it looks more brown? Isnt that cool?

Monkey blanket # 2

This is my second monkey blanket for Project Linus. I used a strand of tan baby yarn and a strand of white baby yarn. R1 sc 1 ch1 around. R2 slip stitch chain five, slip stitch into sc.

Slippers

We have had some extremely cold nights her in North Central PA... and my floors are VERY cold. so i opted to make some slippers for myself.

Crafters so rarely make things to keep. somone says "OOH i like them" and you just give them away due to the thinking "I can make another" but these purple slippers wont go to anybody! unless of course they get stolen byt eh teenager...

new skip stitch use

Everyone knows I love my skip stitch blade. And everyone knows I have been riding in a lot of different cars for radiation. Some of which have leather seats.

Even with my seat belt on I just don't feel safe in a leather seat. I tend to slouch and slip and slide. I knew if I were going to be riding with different people I could not be afraid to ride in their cars. Feeling insecure about the seat, well, it can make me more irritable, and that's bad.

I had an Idea though, why not double fold some "rug grip" and skip stitch around it and make a gripper for my butt?

I used to use a square of gripper on my dads lawn tractor as well because I just slid off that seat. That's how I know this will be so much better!

Cold Nose?

So last night I was sitting in the living room and I was all toasty warm except my nose. So I started crocheting something to keep my nose warm.

I know it looks silly but my nose is warm!
