I am getting a lot of Skip stitch questions, and i have found a website that explains it all, and you can order the blades there as well (although they are cheaper at Project Linus)

Red and Black

This is my Grandmother, and her favorite colors were Red and Black. She had them together all over the place. Pillows and blankets of her own were all red and black crochet. One of her favorite Ceramic paints was a black with a red crystal. Notice even her dress is red and black in this picture!

I wonder if this is where I get my color obsession from????

So I couldn't help but think of grandma as I crochet this red and black Linus blanket. I used a black yarn along with black eyelash.

Pink & Purple Baby yarn

I used up the last of my pink Baby yarn with this one. Consequently I had to do the ruffle twice. Normally I do a shell that is 4 double crochets or sometiems five. Lately I have been doing 4 half double crochets, and that is what i had done around this one. I got to the last 4 inches of this blanket and ran out of pink yarn. So I pulled it all out and started over on row 2. 3 half double crochets with a chain in between make a teeny tiny shell but so pretty ! and no more left over baby yarn!

Brown Stripy

This is the second half of the striped fleece I bought. Notice how when I used the blue year it looked like a blue blanket and now it looks more brown? Isnt that cool?

Monkey blanket # 2

This is my second monkey blanket for Project Linus. I used a strand of tan baby yarn and a strand of white baby yarn. R1 sc 1 ch1 around. R2 slip stitch chain five, slip stitch into sc.

Blue Stripy Skip Stitch

Here is a blue striped Skip stitch blanket! One more to throw on the pile for Make a blanket Day 2010! I had a lot of complements of the colors of this fleece and you know I really like it myself.

Trip to Joannes

My sister and I will Stop off at the Joanne's Fabrics that is near to where I get my Radiation done.

When I was there last they had no sew fleece blanket kits on sale 50% off.

Since I started skip stitching, I don't really like to tie my blankets for Project Linus. At the cost of the fleece, and 5 inches cut to tie on both sides, that's a lot of fleece that could be blanket!

So I Bought a kit with colors of yarn I had at home for ~ get this ~$10! Then when I got it home I took off the selvages and cut the pieces in half. It's a great size for a child to cuddle up with.

so 4 new blankets to make at almost no cost per blanket.

Monkeying Around

My GF Amy took me to Radiation Wednesday. On the way there I finished up this adorable monkey Linus Blanket.

It has been so great to have all of my friends taking me to these appointments. Its been fun to monkey around with my friends. OH i know that joke was bad! sorry!

Another Skip Stitch Blanket Finished

This is the last of my original Skip stitch fleece. I get to start a whole new crop of it now! I now have 5 Linus blankets to drop off. So Great!

Blanket Finished

My trips to radiation are really paying off for Project Linus! I have gotten a bunch of these Skip stitch blankets done. so quick and so easy I can do my round one on the way there and my round two an the way home...

Everyone knows I love my skip stitch blade. And everyone knows I have been riding in a lot of different cars for radiation. Some of which have leather seats.

Even with my seat belt on I just don't feel safe in a leather seat. I tend to slouch and slip and slide. I knew if I were going to be riding with different people I could not be afraid to ride in their cars. Feeling insecure about the seat, well, it can make me more irritable, and that's bad.

I had an Idea though, why not double fold some "rug grip" and skip stitch around it and make a gripper for my butt?

I used to use a square of gripper on my dads lawn tractor as well because I just slid off that seat. That's how I know this will be so much better!

Skip Stich Blanket #2 is done

Well the blanket I have been working on is finally finished... How I am getting anything for charity done during this busy time is amazing to me. But I also know I cant start something new untill I finish up some UFO's

this is the second skip stitch blanket that i have set to go. as you can see i have a round done on it already and now i am doing only half double crochet around the second time. i thought the burgandy of this blanket calls for a less frilly edge. I am 3/4 done, if i sit down with it and a Christmas movie i should finish in no time!

One down three to go

Of my skip stitch blankets I have one done now. it turned out really nice. the homespun i used for the edging made a nice "silky binding"

My Humps MY Humps...LOL!

No I'm not singing again, I'm crocheting. For the Linus blanket I am working on right now I wanted a shell pattern that would lie flat, not be all ruffly. So while My mother-in-law and I sat waiting for my treatment to be over she helped me work this pattern out.

R1- SC, C, SC, C REPEAT
Slip into beginning stitch to join.

R2- Chain 1, (Skip to second chain space, DC 7 around chain space, skip to second chain space, slip stitch) Repeat

I am using Lion Brand "Home Spun" yarn. its soft and silky and the 7dc, make a nice "finger rub" spot this should make a great project linus blanket as soon as I get it all edged.
