Years and Years and years ago, I had a friend that had a baby. Honestly its been so long ( I must have been 16 or so), i cant even remember who it was. But they gave out Hershey bars as their announcement.
Hers were made out of construction paper and simply written on with a sharpie. It was soo cute I have held onto that memory all these years.
As i was trying to think of how to do this since my printing and spelling is HORRIBLE, I got to thinking i have a computer and i have a program i know how to use. just work it up. I did this in a matter of hours. now my template is all saved, all i have to do is wait for the event to happen, type in the correct date, and weight and measurements, and print!
the only real obstacle is keeping the family out of the Hershey bars!
HOW TO MAKE THIS YOURSELF....
I worked this up in Microsoft Office Word.
I used custom paper size. 6 x 5.5
Two borders of baby bottles on the top and on the bottom.
One baby clip art on the side
and just regular text on the left.
To make ALL of the clip art easier to place, Select the clip art, right click, text wrapping, and THROUGH. This will allow you to place the clip art freely where ever you may want it so it wont interfere with any text you want to enter.
As you can see you cut out the part over the "HE" in HERSHEY if you were to have a girl, you would cut out the "SHE".
You will need to "sacrifice" one Hershey bar so you can get this all lined up to mark out your "cut away" spot. But that was something I was WILLING to do :)

Blog Revamp
I have been wanting to redo this blog for quite some time, as i wasn't 100% pleased with the last background that i had.
As far as content goes, I still plan on posting any crafty things i do, but mostly it will continue to be a recipe page, I know cooking isn't a "normal" craft as crafters think, BUT I personally, think of cooking as a craft something you work at something you learn more and more.
and i love being able to simply hand over my blog site and send people my favorite all time recipes.
I am certain my crafting will come back to this blog, as things on the other blog settle down. as I have been dong extensive painting in the new baby's room, and that is taking up a good chunk of crafting time, and also fufilling my creativity desire.
Never fear, ceramics will be back as will lots of other projects!
For now here are the photos of the completed walls in the baby's room in-case you haven't been following the personal blog.
If you click on the pictures, they should enlarge so you can see the detail.

temporarily out of order
Hello everyone...
This is a post to assure you that i am not dead or forgotten that i actually have a blog make that TWO, But some how I have managed to become computerless for a short time. my main PC went down in a power outage, then my back up died by the swat of a fly, and then the back up for my back up (we were inh the proces of trying to get that online accessible, well that fell through as well. All of my computer actions now are taking place on my internet capable Wii gaming system (thank goodness for that purchase)
So consider this the last post for this blog for a bit....
Oh and by the way I finished that dress purse today, it came out soooo cute! but unfortunatly, my Wii wont upload photos to the web... :(

Family Reunion
Summers are always filled with days spent with Family,
We recently went to My husbands family reunion. not a lot in attendance but it was a quieter event with the time i wanted to be able to read the books and see how everything fits in. It is sad that we all live in the same town but so seldom all of use get together. so we took this opportunity to take a picture. We only had one person missing at this time, our daughter Michelle.
From left to right..... Missy (My SIL), Bob (FIL) looking at Missy's son Nick, Mary is next (MIL) Cliff (BIL), Steve (DH) and I.

Rain
Let me first tell you that my cats are INSIDE ONLY cats. They THINK they want to go out, but if I leash them they cower out side and beg to go back in.
We have been getting rain....
Snookie seems to think if we didnt have the rain she would have birds to watch. But, since I don't feed right now (nesting privacy) there aren't hoards of birds around anyhow. But as you can see she seems irritated with the rain.
Later on she just gave up staring at the rain being annoyed and decided to take a nap

Rock Craft
Today at the cancer center, I was given a rock. It can go into a rock garden, which I will be trying out soon....
The Volunteer at the admissions desk makes them and she gave this one to me, isn't it lovely?

After 1 week...
One week after coming up with the idea to paint the mat, I can honestly say I am DONE with the sun-porch.
It has been a grueling week, As I am tuckered out. But it has paid off as well. I am happy with the de-cluttering I have done and the fresh paint looks just lovely.
The yellow We bought was 1/2 a shade lighter than what we had before and the green is more "limey" than the original mint. But I am happy with it and with the contrast. You can see the difference in the rocking chair as that is the only thing that did not get a fresh coat of paint. I like the way it looks now and didnt want to mess with it. IF I change my mind I will buy the same colors its already painted....
Any how I have a trunk load of stuff to take to good will, and still a porch full of furniture to put in storage!

Bird Feeders
My Bird Feeders havent had any attention and a few years. I painted a few of them last week. Today I ripped this one apart while I was wating for it to warm up enough to get back to painting the floor on the sun porch. It had a rood of Vinyl siding. I took that off and scrubbed it, and painted all of the wood.
As I was painting it, I got to thinking how my dad had made this and painted it. This was the kind of chores he did while Mom was at work. I thought even though hes gone now, here I am making a connection with him by painting his feeder.
Then as I looked at the top of the feeder I knew that one day this feeder too would be gone. and it made me a little sad. But then I brightened knowing that even after all the things that Daddy ever did are gone, I will still be painting my bird feeders burgundy. Not because I like burgundy, but because its what Daddy painted them. By keeping my feeders burgundy I keep a little of him her with me every time a paint a feeder.

who would have thought?
Did you know that if you want to paint a floor you have to MOVE everything off of it? Then after you move everything you realize... wow thats really dirty!
So today we spent moving all the furniture off the back porch onto the front porch. Just to take the hose to everything!
Well this is the back porch. I am keeping the same color scheme although a whole bunch of frogs got donated! I am going to repaint the white around the windows and the cream on the floor. The green washed really good. Give it a couple of days to dry I should be painting by monday!
It makes me wonder what the neighbors must think! I just got the Christmas stuff off the front porch and moved into storage and now its full of furniture!
(the barn we store in was surrounded by high water click for pic) All the warm weather has it all dried up and the grass needs to be cut there now!

Shower to Spa
Bathing to me has always been a time of relaxation. Nothing was better than to pour a glass of red wine and light some candles and draw a nice bubble bath.
But the apartment I have lived in for the last 12 years doesn't have one. All we have is a shower stall. I have lamented over my missing "tubbie time" the entire time I have lived here.
Well Whine No More! I have done no actual crafting because I have been planning and painting. My husband thinks I am off my nut, but I know that this Will Work!
The top of our shower is enclosed and prone to mold, not much I can do about that other than paint it with some Kilz. (Hopefully I can keep the door open until the shower dries out and it will resist molding.) It covers up the mold as well as makes it all look nice and new. A quick $10 fix.
Then I added this unfinished shelf. (I picked it up at NTCH for like 50 cents but I have seen this same shelf at Michael's for $10) I painted it with the left over Kilz paint.
I added some cheap Wal-mart Pillar candles, and two tiny tea candles in glass votive holders.
VoilĂ old stinky moldy shower turns to nice relaxing spa shower! All for under $30

NTCH Closing
Perhaps some of you that follow my posts here locally have heard the nasty rumor that my all time favorite second hand store will be closing....
I am here to tell you the NTCH is staying open. I got the word from the management just today. There is a big poster about how it was a rumor about how the store was closing etc. apparently the children's home has moved, but the NTCH will remain open.
YIPEE!

Happy Valentines day
This is what my Daughter wanted for valentines day. Instead of the "typical" red velvet cake, that I make every year, she asked for a purple cake with pink frosting.
Well the picture doesnt do that pink frosting justice. IT is pink panther pink. and that purple cake is grapey purple.

Chocolate banana smoothie
My daughter has recently decided to hop on my "diet train" and she thought this smoothie would be a good idea. She found the recipe on the back of a "Carnation Instant breakfast" packet.
3/4 C skim milk
1/2 frozen Banana
1 packet drink mix
1/2 C ice cubes
Well we knew absolutely nothing about making smoothies....
Apparently, Food processors are not the ideal place to make them. Or at least when you make two at a time! Or perhaps it was that I failed to CRUSH THE ICE FIRST. The swirling icecubes never crushed up, and when I went to pour out the smoothie the chunks of ice plopped out, splashing chocolate banana smoothie all over my counter, then the "chopping blade" fell out, bouncing off the counter spinning in a circle onto the floor, covering Me and EVERY SINGLE black appliance in my kitchen with drips of sticky chocolaty mess.
Of course my dear daughter who had the camera poised to take a shot of this beautiful smoothie for the blog, started speed shooting as soon as the mess started to appear. This whole incident happened last week... It took me all day to clean up that mess, I was so upset by the time I was done i decided not to even publish any of the post untill today, when I walked back into my kitchen after cleaning it thoroughly yet again yesterday, and yes guess what I found MORE SMOOTHIE. At that all I could do was laugh, and drag the pics out of my recycle bin. Some days you just have to laugh at yourself...

My daughter recently took over my "sewing room" its really just part of my kitchen for her 18th birthday party. So there hasn't been a whole lot of crafting being done here mostly just party prep and party prep cleaning. but its time to get the last of the stuff put away and set my sewing table back up.
