The Making of Matt's Cake Step 2




OK so i have shared the recipe for the fondant and the milk free cake. I have been making the layers to Matt's cake.  as you can see the layers are not as "high" as they were in the 8x8 pan, so i have opted for layers....

Right now the layers are sitting on top of the cake pan i'm keeping them in the freezer in. a layer of chocolate, a layer of white and then i thought a tier would be nice as well for the two cats and the "1" candle.

I have learned through q&a that freezing the cake makes it easier to work with and to "carve" and i can honestly say that cutting that third layer into two layers for a tier was much easier with the cake frozen!

so now its just make enough butter-cream (that isn't butter-cream) to cover a cake this size.... and then see if i need to use fondant or if ill just use fondant decorations....
